Work in Progress - The Ox March 2005

Commissioned by a local graphics designer who likes to incorporate local artists into his designs, the Ox is carved from Wellingtonia American Redwood.

Starting with the horns out of white sapwood, leading into the head drawing the shape and form of the body of the red wood.

After scorching to dry and burnt off any splinters it is sanded and shaped.  Some hand carving was used to pick out the detail of the eyes, nostrils and mouth.

Finished off with 3 coats of Tuf exterior paint.
